  1. Norway has the most reindeer herders in the whole world. The habitants and herders have a great relationship. People were initially hunting the reindeer. Later they started domesticating them, then finally breeding them also.
  2. Norway is just bigger than the US state, New Mexico. Two-thirds of the country is covered with mountainous areas. Nearly 300 mountain peaks can be found here.
  3. Finland is sometimes referred to as the ’land of the thousand lakes’… despite having over 188 000 of them, with over 98 000 islands on the lakes.
  4. The worldwide-known LEGO brand was founded in Denmark, in the beginning, however, instead of toys they were producing… stairs!
  5. In the capitol of Iceland, Reykjavík, some sidewalks are geothermically heated in the winter, making it easier to keep them clean.
  6. Some parts of Norway only get 3 hours of sunshine a day in winter… or none at all!
  7. At Easter time children dress up in costumes and, like Halloween, go from house to house collecting candy.
  8. Sweden is famous for its innovation. The perfect zipper was invented here, as was the freezer and the pacemaker.
  9. People in Denmark hang a flag on their houses, if it’s someone’s birthday.
  10. The most popular souvenir from Sweden is the ’moose warning road sign’. Several thousands of these signs are stolen in Sweden yearly!
