- Norway has the most reindeer herders in the whole world. The habitants and herders have a great relationship. People were initially hunting the reindeer. Later they started domesticating them, then finally breeding them also.
- Norway is just bigger than the US state, New Mexico. Two-thirds of the country is covered with mountainous areas. Nearly 300 mountain peaks can be found here.
- Finland is sometimes referred to as the ’land of the thousand lakes’… despite having over 188 000 of them, with over 98 000 islands on the lakes.
- The worldwide-known LEGO brand was founded in Denmark, in the beginning, however, instead of toys they were producing… stairs!
- In the capitol of Iceland, Reykjavík, some sidewalks are geothermically heated in the winter, making it easier to keep them clean.
- Some parts of Norway only get 3 hours of sunshine a day in winter… or none at all!
- At Easter time children dress up in costumes and, like Halloween, go from house to house collecting candy.
- Sweden is famous for its innovation. The perfect zipper was invented here, as was the freezer and the pacemaker.
- People in Denmark hang a flag on their houses, if it’s someone’s birthday.
